FAQ
Unity Pro subscription offer
You now have the option to purchase a 12 month subscription to Unity Pro and Pro add-ons via the Online Store. Instead of paying the full retail cost up-front as you do when you buy a perpetual license, you pay for your subscription via monthly payments.
During your subscription you can do exactly the same with Unity Pro as you would if you bought a perpetual license: develop professional quality games and other 3D interactive content. Just as with buying a perpetual license, any content you develop is yours to keep; Unity takes no royalties or additional fees with a subscription plan.
You do not own the license you are subscribing to. If you choose not to continue your subscription after 12 months then your Unity Pro license will be deactivated.
A Unity subscription gives access to the latest version of Unity within the subscription period, as well as all previous versions. Any new releases occurring during your subscription plan are automatically included at no additional cost.
You can subscribe to one Unity Pro license, with as many Pro add-ons as you like, per customer account. You can include Unity iOS Pro, Android Pro and Team License in your subscription.
A 12 month Unity Pro license subscription costs $75/month, each Pro add-on also costs $75/month and Team License costs $0/month.
You pay for your subscription plan with a credit card that is kept on your customer account page. Every month, your credit card will be automatically charged for a monthly payment. Therefore it is important that your customer account page always contains correct and up-to-date credit card information.
The first monthly payment is made at the point of purchase in the Online Store. This payment covers the first full calendar month in your subscription plan. So, if you start a subscription on April 15th, 2013, your first payment covers the month of May. You don't have to wait until May to use the license though - the subscription license is valid immediately after purchase.
All subsequent monthly payments are charged to your credit card on the first of every month: So in this example, your monthly payment for June would be charged on June 1, your July payment on July 1, and so on.
You'll receive an invoice/payment confirmation each month via email. Make sure to save all your invoices as they are only available via your monthly payment emails.
There is no cancellation policy or reimbursement for a subscription. Once you commit to a subscription via the Online Store you are obligated to pay all monthly payments owing. Even if you stop your monthly payments and your license is shut down, you are still obligated to pay the outstanding payment(s) for your subscription period. Please see Subscription terms and conditions and the End User License Agreement for more details.
When your commitment period ends your plan will automatically convert to the flexible monthly subscription. With the flexible monthly option you pay month-to-month and can cancel your subscription at any time. The rates for the flexible plan are $75/month for a Unity Pro license, $75/month per Pro add-on and $0/month for Team License.
Or, at the end of your commitment period you can choose to let your plan expire, which will result in your license being deactivated.
You can use your Unity Pro subscription offline, however, it is a condition that you connect to the internet within the first 21 days of each month. This is so that your license remains active.
VAT will be charged in accordance to Danish legislation and EU VAT legislation (2006/112/EC). In general this means that a sale to a customer that does not have a VAT number registered in the VAT Information Exchange System(VIES) will be charged 25% Danish VAT on their invoice.
No, you cannot convert an existing Unity Pro perpetual license to a subscription plan.
No you cannot combine a perpetual license with a subscription license. You are free to subscribe to Unity Pro alongside your perpetual license, but you cannot buy and subscribe to Unity Pro and Unity Pro add-ons with the same license key. So in this example, you would have to subscribe to a Unity Pro base license together with the deployment add-on and use the subscription license key alongside your perpetual license key.
Modifying a subscription plan
If you don't know what Pro add-ons you will need when you open a subscription to a Unity Pro license, you can add the add-on(s) later on, while your subscription is running. This is how it works:
Adding add-ons to a regular 12 month subscription in progress
A key condition of the subscription option is that the same expiry/renewal date applies to all products in a subscription plan: one plan, one expiry date. So you can add add-ons to an existing subscription at any time, but doing so will automatically extend the length of the subscription to your Unity Pro license and any Pro add-ons included from the start.
Example: You have a 12-month subscription to Unity Pro, set to expire on July 1, 2014. On January 15, 2014, you add an iOS Pro Add-on to the subscription. The new expiry date for both products is now January 31, 2015.
When you purchase the new add-on, you pay the add-on price for the first full calendar month, in this case, February, 2014. On the first day of all months remaining in your newly extended subscription period, you pay the new monthly fee (Unity Pro license + iOS Pro add-on).
Modifying a flexible subscription plan in progress
Adding add-ons:
You can't add new add-ons to a flexible plan. You will have to open a new 12 month subscription that includes your desired add-ons.
Removing add-ons:
Due to the cancel-anytime option you can remove an add-on from a flexible subscription via your customer account page.
Managing your subscription
Each subscription customer has their own customer account page, called My Account. You can log onto your account page from the Online Store. Your account page lists all your perpetual licenses and subscription products. You can purchase additional products and update your credit card information, address or contact info.
If you do not want your subscription to transfer to the flexible plan at the end of the 12 month commitment period, then you can choose the opt-out/expire option from the My Account page.

Terms
By purchasing a subscription with Unity, you agree to the following terms:
The minimum commitment period for a subscription is 12 months. You cannot cancel your subscription before its expiry date.
You are legally obligated to pay the full amount owing for the 12 month subscription via monthly payments.
The duration of the subscription period is calculated as 12 months from the first day of the first full calendar month in the period. However, you can activate your subscription as soon as you receive your serial number after purchasing in the Online Store.
You do not own the Unity Professional Edition license. If you let your plan expire after 12 months, then your license key will be deactivated.
Each monthly payment will be charged to your credit card on the 1st day of each month in the subscription period.
You have the option to add Pro add-ons to a subscription in progress. However, doing so will automatically extend the length of the entire subscription. The new expiry date will be calculated from the date that you purchased the new add-on.
At the end of the 12 month commitment period your subscription will be automatically transferred to a flexible plan. On the flexible plan you pay month to month with the option to cancel any time. The price for Unity Pro on a flexible plan is $75/month. Each Pro add-on also costs $75/month.
If at the end of your commitment period you do not want to continue on the flexible plan you can choose to let your subscription expire, which will result in the deactivation of your Unity Pro license.
Unity reserves the right to terminate or modify the terms of the Subscription offer at any time.
For a regular 12 month subscription:
If a monthly payment is not paid on time, then the Unity Pro license will be deactivated 21 days after the payment due date.
If your Unity Pro license has been deactivated due to unpaid monthly payments you still must pay the total amount left owing on your subscription.
If correct and/or updated billing and credit card information is provided within 42 days of the original due date, then the new credit card will immediately be charged for the total amount still owing and the Unity Pro license reactivated.
If more than 42 days have passed since the due date of the unpaid payment and there is not a valid credit card in your customer account, then your customer account will be closed and collection of for the full remaining commitment period will be handled by an independent collection agency.
For a flexible subscription:
If a monthly payment is not paid on time, then the Unity Pro license will be deactivated 27 days after the payment due date. You cannot reactivate the license. To use Unity Pro again, you will have to start a new 12 month subscription.
